The speakers work just great. Organizers began running sound check on the large, booming speakers set up on the black-cloaked stage at the end of Jackson Street. When traveling to the festivities today, beware: The streets immediately adjacent to the Jackson family home at 2300 Jackson St. are blocked off, including Jackson Street from 25th Avenue north. Parking is available at Roosevelt H.S., in the lot west of the home, for $10. – Christine Kraly
